MEET  THE  TEAM

Psychologist Session

Safe Corner Psychology was established to create a space where clients feel welcomed, heard, respected, and supported. We believe that a strong therapeutic relationship begins with feeling safe and understood, and our team is thoughtfully selected to ensure our values of compassion, professionalism, and client-centred care are shared. Each team member is carefully chosen through a mindful process, reflecting our commitment to providing high-quality psychological support to every client and family we work with.

Dr. Shannon Aiyuen Choong
Senior Clinical Psychologist and Director

Shannon is a Registered Clinical Psychologist and Board-Approved Supervisor with AHPRA, based in Melbourne. She founded Safe Corner Psychology with the vision of creating a space where clients feel welcomed, heard, respected, and supported-- a place where therapy can feel safe, non-judgemental and, at times, even enjoyable.

Shannon works with children, adolescents and adults, and has extensive experience working with neurodivergent individuals and supporting children and families to better understand differences in thinking, learning, emotions and behaviour. Shannon also provides support for those presenting with:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Perfectionism

  • Relationship Challenges

  • Trauma

  • Life Transitions

  • Grief and Loss

  • School Related Challenges

  • Adjustment Difficulties

Shannon’s approach to therapy is guided by each client’s unique experiences, strengths, needs and goals. She believes therapy is a collaborative process that combines evidence-based interventions, clinical expertise, and an understanding of each person’s cultural background, family experiences, personal characteristics and preferences. Rather than focusing only on challenges or diagnoses, Shannon values understanding the whole person and helping clients recognise their strengths, build resilience and create meaningful change.

In addition to therapy, Shannon is experienced in completing comprehensive psychological assessments, including assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), cognitive abilities, learning difficulties and Intellectual Disability.

Shannon provides psychological services in both English and Mandarin.
